The Sleeping Fish

Ah. The idle mind would threaten to waste away.

My journal has become more of a scrapbook lately - since right now I am ruled more by my wants than anything else. I'm cutting up pretty pictures of oh-so-desired objects, sticking them in and lusting over them in a very disgusting way.

Not a very good way to treat one's journal, but at least it's honest.

My blog has been treated the same as well. Oh well. La la la.

I have not bought anything substantial out of a want for awhile now. So the urge to go ahead and buy something is pretty strong at the moment.

• Last beli makeup: mineral makeup set yang split 3-ways tu.

• Last beli baju: dua helai t-shirt di Beijing. Sebab tak cukup pakaian (sebab tak bawak pakaian pergi)

• Last beli alat mainan: um. um. telephone ni I guess.

It's safe to say that all I've bought in the last 3 months were books. And books should never count. Ever. They are food for the brain, and just like food, tak patut berkira when it comes to buying.

After having successfully cleared out my hoarding-stash, I'm not in the mood to buy any makeup items. *GASP*

The only kind of pakaian I want to buy is the navy sailorfuku, but I need to think about it some more before I decide. Maybe I won't buy it after all. *GAASSPP*

And because I'm still dealing with the spillover from my last back-to-school haul, am also not interested in stationery. Much. *GAAASSSPPP*

(tapi kalau ada orang nak hadiahkan tu... I accept with arms wide open, of course :P)

So if I AM to buy anything right now, it would be toys. TOYS. TOOOYYYSSS.

At first I thought of buying the new Tamagotchi (!!!!!)

WOOOOOOOOOOT~!!!

Memang ingin, but something else caught my eye.

I'm can, and will, in no circumstances call myself a photographer. Not even an amateur one. BUT, I love cameras, and I absolutely do enjoy taking pictures with one.

A real camera that is. Not a digital one.

No offence.

The reason why I DO NOT own a digital camera (unlike all you people out there) is because digital photos don't mean as much to me. As such I will probably never buy a digital camera (but will readily accept hand-me-downs)

Back in the days of innocence and constant flow of pocket money, my faithful Nikon and I would break the bank with film and processing expenditure. We would take the most absurd and ridiculous shots, those not worthy of being shown to anyone at all - but we were alive and we had fun.

Ever since my Nikon went and killed itself, I could never bring myself to buying another 35mm.

Taking pictures has never been the same.

I know it's just more convenient, more practical and easier on the pockets to just point and shoot with something digital. Tak payah beli film, tak payah hantar pergi cuci... Just USB masuk computer je.

Tapi.

Those kind of shots tak dapat disentuh kan?

Simple you say: pergi hantar print!

But it's not the same is it?

With film, a lot more happens. Exposure. Developing. A one time opportunity, make it or break it shots.

I think it takes guts to capture something in a format that is so... real.

In the spirit of starting over and being more honest, I got this:

No no, it's not just a toy. Yes yes, it's a real camera.

A spy cam in fact. So much for being more honest kan? LOL.

But it was just too adorable to pass!

It runs on 110 films, that's gonna be a little tough to find (more so in KL) but I managed to get a batch on eBay for a very good price (kalau RM10 segulung tu okay la kan? 35mm pun dah berapa sekarang?)

Juga ingin (tapi kedekut) *ahem ahem*

Aku ni memang ada tendency untuk minat benda-benda yang nampak macam barang mainan kan?

Holga 120GCFN goes into the wishlist *SIGH*

I believe in very little things.

I believe in God. I believe in my three little codes. And I believe in things being real.

Being tangible.
And being subject to the laws of time.
And time dictates that everything must live,
must fade, and must die.

Now that I'm done with school (for awhile) I'll have a little more time to indulge in the things I've had to put on hold.

Reading.
Writing.
Drawing.
Painting.
Taking pictures.

And sleeping. Definitely sleeping.

While most of my classmates are back in school for the CLP or are working hard making a living or are packing in anticipation of leaving town, I am lying down in bed next to a pile of brightly colored plastic things.

Fish sleep with their eyes wide open, don't they?
